On 8th December 2025, the Tyler Abdul Foundation hosted a Charity Football Tournament in collaboration with Dorking Wanderers Academy, bringing together around 200 young people aged 16–17. With approximately 90 percent of attendees being male, the event created a valuable opportunity to reach a group that is often harder to engage in conversations around mental health.
Alongside the football, a short but impactful ten-minute talk addressed suicide, mental health and where to find support. Help numbers were shared on bookmarks, ensuring young people left with clear information on how and where to reach out if they needed help. Engagement throughout the day was strong, with many young people thanking the team for speaking openly and honestly with them.
The impact of the event was immediate. One young person reached out directly for support following the tournament, highlighting the importance of meeting young people in spaces where they already feel comfortable. The tournament was fun, inclusive and raised funds, while also reinforcing a simple but vital message: support is available, and talking can save lives.
