Legacy of Light Impact

Legacy of Light was a sold-out community vigil held on Sunday 9th November 2025 at Crossways Baptist Church in Dorking, organised by the Tyler Abdul Foundation. Created as a space for remembrance, reflection and connection, the event brought together young people, families and the wider community to honour loss while holding onto hope.

The programme combined music, poetry, prayer and personal testimonies from family members, friends and contributors, creating a powerful and emotionally supportive atmosphere. Messages of hope were shared by young people for young people, reinforcing the importance of not facing grief or heavy emotions alone. Central themes throughout the evening focused on resilience, faith, love and the idea that even in the darkest moments, there is still light to be found.

With all 150 free tickets booked and around 90 percent of attendees being teenagers, the event demonstrated the need for accessible, inclusive spaces where young people can process grief openly and safely. The full programme below outlines the structure of the evening and reflects the collective care, creativity and compassion that defined Legacy of Light.
