I once lived a goal-driven life, focused on success and the next achievement. On November 4, 2024. Black Monday. Everything shifted. My world crumbled. My heart shattered. My nephew, Tyler Ray Abdul, a bright, brilliant, always-smiling 15-year-old, died by suicide. That earth-shattering loss transformed me. Tyler showed no obvious signs, and the shock of his passing, one I will forever struggle with, made clear how hidden this crisis is. Now I’m on a mission to raise awareness about suicide and prevent this hidden horror and its hidden complexity and to help turn silence and sorrow into visibility, hope, and resilience.
